AED 50 as fine for crossing at zones not allocated to pedestrians
The Department of Traffic and Patrols at Abu Dhabi Police will charge pedestrians AED50 on crossing from zones not allocated to them with effect from today in line with its strategic plan to ensure traffic safety.
Colonel Hamad Adeel Al Shamsi, director of the department said at a press conference held at the department Sunday that "the campaign reflects care given by Lieutenant General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, minister of interior to reduce percentage of the traffic accidents, which cause deaths, serious injuries and economic losses".
He added that the department with effect from today would step up campaign against pedestrians who cross roads from zones not allocated to them, indicating that they "will be fined AED50" in case of any violation.
Al Shamsi called on motorists to adhere to pedestrian crossings by reducing speed to let them cross the road. (WAM)
