UNESCO hails "Dubai Cares" initiative
The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation(UNESCO) lauded the humanitarian initiative "Dubai Cares" campaign launched by H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai to raise funds for the education of one million children in poor countries.
It thanked the UAE for its effective role in supporting the education in line with "the education for all" programme launched by the UNESCO.
Dr. Hanif Hassan, UAE Minister of Education received a message from Nicholas Torrent, assistant director general of the UNESCO for the educational affairs. Torrent stressed in the message that the UNESCO is ready to cooperate with the "Dubai Cares" campaign and other UAE humanitarian initiatives to cooperate internationally in service of the humanitarian activities worldwide.
Meanwhile, Dr. Hanif said, "the partnership with UNESCO is one of the fundamental programmes of the ministry, particularly in the field of educational development, which was appreciated by the organisation". Source
