du’s landline service launched

Private telecom operator du yesterday the launched its first landline service Call Select. Subscribers to Call Select can use their existing (non-du) landline phones to make national and international calls by prefixing 08888 to the desired number.
The calls dialled with the prefix will get routed through the du network offering immediate savings without changing the existing landline number or phone.
The service, currently limited to Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Sharjah, will soon be operational nationwide.
Sharing details of the new service, du CEO Osman Sultan said, “Call Select gives the user total freedom and the flexibility to choose a different network service in a hassle-free manner.”
The key benefits of Call Select include off-peak international rates during anytime of the day on calls to all international destinations; pay-by-the-second, providing savings on national and international calls; one integrated bill for Monthly Plan and Call Select subscribers.
It’s easy to subscribe to Call Select and save. Simply visit one of the du shops in Abu Dhabi , Dubai or Sharjah and take along your identification documents. For international calls, subscribers need to dial 08888 followed by 00, the country and city code where applicable, followed by the desired international number, for example, to call India dial 08888-00-91-11-2 345 6789. For national calls, subscribers need to dial 08888 and the area code or mobile prefix, followed by the desired number. For instance, to call Abu Dhabi dial 08888-02-123-4567 and to call a mobile, dial 08888-055-012-3456. Source
