World’s 1st turning tower in Dubai introduces unique apartment designs

Following the announcement of the world’s first fully turning timepiece skyscraper, Time Residences in Dubai, in November 2006, Glenn Howells, the celebrated concept and design architect behind this unique real estate development, has unveiled the interior living concepts for the eco-friendly buildings, apartment designs, properties designed not to age.
Speaking at a press briefing in Dubai to launch the interior concepts, Glenn Howells, Director of Glenn Howells Architects said: “The Time Residences are an eco-friendly sustainable design using solar power to revolve the cylindrical form and recycling water to irrigate the landscaped gardens. Our designs for the unique segment-shaped apartments maximize external awareness and provide panoramic views for residents. This introduces a revolutionary new way of living in Dubai by providing cool, calm luxurious spaces that open up through use of sliding screens to offer unparalleled levels of flexible space and views of the city through floor to ceiling glazing.”
The 30-floor mega structure, located in the heart of Dubai’s iconic City of Arabia development, part of the breathtaking Dubailand project, Time Residences turns like a time piece. It makes a full 360 degree turn in seven days with the power of the sun to offer unlimited and never ending views of waters and beautiful landscapes. The very slow tuning motion offers a “new dimension to living” and provides premium views to all.
Time Residences will house 200 one to four bedroom unique apartments each of which will be designed according to one of the following three styles. Construction of Time Residences in Dubai is expected to start in June 2007 with projected completion in the first quarter of 2009. Source
