Business MBA scholarship programme in conjunction with TECOM
Manchester Business School Worldwide, the international arm of Manchester Business School, one of the world's top business schools (ranked 22nd in the world by the Financial Times), has launched an MBA scholarship programme in conjunction with TECOM (Dubai Technology Electronic Commerce and Media Free Zone).
The scholarship was announced recently by the Dean of Manchester Business School, Professor Michael Luger, and Executive Director of Dubai International Academic City, Dr. Ayoub Kazim.
The joint programme will initially provide one MBA scholarship for an MBS Worldwide blended learning course, starting in July 2008.
All staff members of TECOM registered partner organizations are eligible to apply and the successful student will be able to choose their preferred MBA programme - Finance, Engineering Management or Construction Management - each of which offers a combination of common core business modules, supplemented by specialist electives.
Applications are being invited from March 3rd, 2008 by responding to a question posed by the school via the online application portal.
The school will apply its usual academic and professional entry criteria to all applications.
Announcing the scholarship programme, Professor Luger, Dean of Manchester Business School Worldwide, said:
'Manchester Business School Worldwide is delighted to be joining with TECOM to offer this blended learning MBA scholarship. TECOM is a vibrant cluster of dynamic businesses and home to entrepreneurs and the entrepreneurial spirit which is at the heart of Dubai's success as an emerging global hub for business excellence'.
Dr Ayoub Kazim Executive Director of Dubai International Academic City added: 'This joint scholarship with MBS Worldwide is a great step forward for us and a great opportunity for TECOM to access one of these excellent blended learning MBA programmes.'
MBS Worldwide opened the Middle East regional centre at Dubai Knowledge Village in September 2006 and already has almost 300 MBA students from across the region following its three blended learning MBA programmes.
According to MBS Worldwide Middle East Director, Randa Bessiso, experienced managers across the Middle East are increasingly taking control of their own careers and taking the initiative when it comes to professional and personal development. 'Business students are looking for flexible MBA programmes that allow them to stay in the workplace whilst adding new skills that help them progress their careers or move from technical or specialist positions onto a general management track,' she said.
MBS Worldwide's students are all experienced (the MBA courses are all post experience programmes - the average student age is 34) and working at middle and senior management level, as well as in technical and specialist roles.
The three MBA programmes currently offered are all general MBA programmes but with a specialist focus - engineering, finance and the school's unique MBA for Construction Executives, which the School launched in the region in response to the construction boom in the Middle East.
'The MBA qualification provides the tools for continued success at the highest management levels and is still the most sought after and valued management qualification, and especially those offered by the top business schools,' added Ms Bessiso. 'They can also offer very good returns - Manchester Business School was ranked fourth outside the US in a 2007 Forbes business magazine survey, in terms of return on investment.'
MBS is one of only a small number of business schools worldwide to be triple accredited - by the Association of MBAs (AMBA), AACSB International and EQUIS. (AME Info)
