Shaikh Zayed Road fast lane to be closed from February 17

The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) will close the fast lane of Shaikh Zayed Road in both directions from tomorrow to February 17 to construct the base of a pedestrian bridge.
According to an RTA Press release, the road closure would start from 1am tomorrow and continue till 5am on February 17.

Engineer Maitha bin Adai, CEO of RTA Traffic & Roads Agency, stated that only the fast track (extreme left lane) of the Shaikh Zayed Road section between Defence Interchange and Trade Centre Roundabout would be closed, while traffic on the other lanes would continue as usual.

She called upon road users to exercise extreme caution while passing through the area. “This lane closure is dictated by the need to construct an overhead pedestrian bridge in the median of this vital road so as to enhance the safety of pedestrians and save them from being run over by vehicles while crossing the roads from undesignated spots.
