Official Telecom Partner of RAK International Half Marathon
du, the UAE’s new telecom operator, recently supported the richest half marathon in the world, the RAK International Half Marathon. Held under the patronage of HH Sheikh Saud Bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, the race took place on 8 February.du, the official telecoms partner of the 21.0975 km race around the city of Ras Al Khaimah, added life to sports by sponsoring the timing devices, which ensured accurate measurement of the race from the start line to finish.
The half marathon helped to raise money for the event’s official charity 2008 - The Paul Tergat Foundation, which is an international, non-government organization that helps disadvantaged children in Africa.
The grand prize of USD 25,000 was won by Patrick Makau who clocked in at 00:59:35, winning the prestigious marathon which had participation from 682 athletes from over 45 different countries.
The inaugural 2007 edition of the RAK International Half Marathon has been accredited by both The Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS) and the UAE Athletics Federation.
