FNC approves changes in pension law
The Federal National Council (FNC) has approved the proposed amendments to the pension and social security law to cover categories like free professions and people with special needs.
The house, at its recent meeting, also passed a provision stating that babies born after their parents retired would be entitled to the children’s allowance. The allowance would be increased to Dh600 from Dh300 a month for every child.
The retirement age for those practising dangerous professions stated would be reduced. Retired nationals would also be encouraged to join the private sector.
The average of the last three years for calculating the subscription salary would be revoked along with Article 21 of the Federal Law No. 7 of 1999 stating that “no deduction shall be made from the pension of the insured at the end of his service if he was sacked, fired or pensioned as per a disciplinary action or a court rule”.
