Dubai Real Estate Corporation joins Emirates Environmental Group as Associate Member
Dubai Real Estate Corporation (DREC), today announced it has become an associate member of the Emirates Environmental Group (EEG).The EEG membership will assist DREC in contributing effectively to environmental protection, while sustaining the well-being of the community.
With immediate effect, DREC will launch an internal waste management programme and ensure the allocation of paper recycling bins at DREC offices along with posters on environmental awareness, and roll out quality training initiatives for DREC staff on waste management strategies.
Hesham Al Qassim, CEO, Dubai Real Estate Corporation, said: "We are proud to introduce the waste management programme as one of our initial priorities. Through our role as associate member, we will continue to offer additional programmes that reiterate our keenness to encourage environmentally friendly measures in all walks of life. In our belief that individuals need to take ownership of the environment, we will provide an effective platform to help them make a beginning."
Apart from promoting environmental awareness among its staff, DREC also aims to create awareness amongst its tenants on environmental concerns. As a pilot initiative, it will set up recycling centres in three preferred locations in Dubai.
Appreciating the DREC initiative, Habiba Al Marashi, Chairperson, Emirates Environmental Group (EEG) said: "We are delighted that DREC has come on board as an associate member to support EEG's objectives on environmental awareness. We will assist DREC in initiating a series of corporate projects and community outreach programmes. This membership will also give us the platform to expand our operations and help the real estate industry achieve sustainable growth that reflects the long term developmental objectives of the country."
In its ongoing commitment to the environment, DREC had also recently announced that it will be one of the first companies in the UAE to implement green building principles across the full spectrum of its property portfolio following the landmark ‘green building' initiative announced by the Dubai Government in 2007.
