CityScape Dubai 2007 opened, set to receive 45000 professionals
Cityscape Dubai 2007, the region's leading property and investment event, was opened Tuesday at the Dubai World Trade Centre by Mohammad Al Gergawi, Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs of the Federal Government of the United Arab Emirates and Chairman of Dubai Holding The 6th edition of the exhibition which is considered among the world's largest business-to-business real estate investment and development events, is set to welcome more than 45,000 regional and international investors, property developers, governmental and development authorities, leading architects, designers, consultants and all senior professionals from more than 120 countries.
"The progress of Cityscape as an event underscores the growth of Middle Eastern companies as formidable players in the global real estate industry. In 2002, the Middle East attracted the best talent amongst global real estate service providers and we were the buyers. In 2007, we are not just a marketplace. Our project management expertise and real estate asset creation skills are being sought after by countries across the world. We now house the world's biggest property exhibition and also are home to some of the world's most prominent master developers", Al Gergawi told the media.
"Moreover, from one Cityscape to another, across the Middle East we have made great strides to stand out as a leading property market attracting investors from around the world. To support this inward investment we have ensured greater clarity in our real estate laws with the creation of the regulatory bodies. The Real Estate Regulatory Authority in Dubai, Sultani Decree No 12/2006 in Oman and the Dubai Land Department?s Escrow Law 8 have made the sector, even more safe and friendly for investors, developers and end-users." Cityscape Dubai 2006 broke records before it began with announcements of $160 billion worth of real estate projects "a seven fold increase on USD$ 20 billion before the previous Cityscape. It is expected that projects announced during Cityscape Dubai 2007 will surpass these figures. Source
