London black cabs to debut in UAE

Abu Dhabi is set to boost its tourist appeal this October when the capital launches a London icon on its roads this fall - a fleet of ‘London Taxi' style limousines.
The transportation arm of Al Qudra Holding Group, Q-link Transport, will introduce the luxurious cars - set with Gulf specifications - which will operate on a 'call on demand' basis and will transport passengers to any point within the UAE.
The cars have been specially manufactured to suit the climate and traffic conditions of the GCC region, the company said in a statement on Wednesday.

The Gulf versions of the taxi - currently being assembled in Coventry, England - will be set apart from the famous London black cab due to its pearl white colour.
"By launching this fleet of luxurious limousine cars in Abu Dhabi, we are assisting in our capital's desire to become a tourist destination," said HE Salah Salem bin Omeir Al Shamsi, chairman and managing director of Al Qudra Holding.
"These vehicles are unique in that they have been produced in the traditional London taxi style, with a genuine Emarati touch. We are confident that these shiny pearl white cars will become an icon of Abu Dhabi," said Al Shamsi.
The new cars have been assembled to meet Gulf standards and specifications and are equipped with all the comforts of a prestigious taxi service, added Q-Link Transport's general nanager, Al Hadi Tahboub. Source
