'Dubai Cares' Online
The ‘Dubai Cares’ campaign is now online. The web site http://www.dubaicares.ae provides information on the campaign — including a calendar of events and background on various corporate social responsibility programmes — and offers people the chance to make online donations to the campaign.
People can share stories online about unique ways they are raising money in support of the campaign which has — in the first few days of the campaign — raised over 150 million from several sources.
'Dubai Cares' received a AED 100 million boost from UAE-based businessman Mr. Sunny Varkey, Chairman of the Varkey Group, GEMS Education and Welcare World Health Systems.
Etisalat today announced a contribution of 25 million dirhams to the 'Dubai Cares' campaign in addition to mobilizing all its technological capabilities to allow more people to join this campaign.
The ‘Dubai Cares’ site includes a calendar of events organised over a 6-week period that will tap into the spirit of giving and the tradition of philanthropy deeply rooted in the emirati community — elements that will be key to achieve the campaign’s objectives.
The donated money will help over 1 million children and assist countries in achieving their UN millennium development goals for providing children’s primary education to every child by 2015. Dubai Cares encourages people to make contributions, recognising that any contribution — small or big — can make a difference.
For Dh20, donors are paying for one child’s school lunch for two weeks, Dh50 one child’s medical check up including vaccinations, Dh100 for two children’s school books and supplies for one year, Dh250 to train one teacher, Dh500 for one child’s school fees for one year, and Dh1000 for clean water supply for one school.
Dubai Cares joins a list of international initiatives launched in the emirate that express Dubai’s will to play an effective role contributing to achieving the world’s mission to secure a better tomorrow for future generations.
