Calypte opens Dubai office
Calypte Biomedical Corp. has established a branch office in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, to spearhead the company's Middle East and Northern Africa operations.
The Lake Oswego-based maker of diagnostic tests for detecting sexually transmitted diseases said the Dubai office will work with government and nongovernment organizations to promote its products.
Due to the region's AIDS epidemic, Calypte anticipates strong demand for its "rapid tests," particularly the test designed to detect antibodies to the human immunodeficiency virus, or HIV.
The office is led by Manahel Thabet, who worked with several organizations in the Middle East and North Africa for eight years before she served as an investment adviser for a major bank in the UAE.
Calypte is moving its offices to Portland this month. Source
