UAE Ministry of Economy warns suppliers against hiking prices
The UAE's Ministry of Economy , MoE, warned suppliers Sunday against hiking of commodities and services prices by suppliers and urged consumers in the UAE to resort to the Ministry's and other relevant authorities' hotlines in case of any violation by suppliers in Dubai, said MoE in a press release.The warning came at a meeting at the Ministry's premises in Dubai where Director of the Ministry's Consumer Protection Unit Dr. Hashim Al Nuaimi, and representatives of Dubai's Department of Economic Development and Dubai's Municipality discussed ways to address the issue."We agreed on having more coordination among our offices as well as on strictly monitoring shops and other sectors to prevent suppliers from hiking prices of commodities and services on claims of the increasing employee's salaries", said Al-Nuaimi."Dubai's Department of Economic Development and Dubai's Municipality will provide the Consumer Protection Unit with reports about actions taken against any violator of the rules", he added.The Ministry's said it dedicated the following hotlines for reporting violations:
