Price of bread to remain the same
A consortium of major bakeries in Abu Dhabi is considering to withdraw an arbitrary increase they imposed on price of bread.
The 20 percent increase in price of bread was announced by the giant baking houses last week without approval from the concerned government authorities.
'Al Ittihad' reported that the baking houses didn't supply bread last week to Al Ain Cooperative Society, after 15 branches of the supermarket chain refused to sell bread at a price higher than Dhs.2.50 a packet.
Small-sized bakeries were also unwilling to follow the one-sided decision taken by the alliance of big baking houses boasting the largest market share. Source
