Eco-friendly public water transport on the way
The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) said yesterday it was planning to convert two abras to solar power.
“The Marine Agency has approached a number of global businesses regarding transforming the engines of two abras to solar energy. Many offers were received and are being assessed to select the best one,” said Engineer Khalid Al Zahid, acting CEO of Marine Agency.
He said solar energy-operated abra engines severely reduce pollution levels and would cut annual fuel bills from dhs3.69 million to dhs2.214 million.
