NBD card loyalty scheme

National Bank of Dubai (NBD) will be the landlord bank in the UAE for the new Selektpoints card payment loyalty scheme.
The bank, which has the largest customer cardholder base in the UAE, will effectively lease space on the electronic chips on its cards to selektpoints. Its customers will be able to earn and redeem selektpoints at retailers displaying the scheme’s logo. NBD will be the only bank to run the selektpoints programme in the UAE.
The scheme, which is currently patent pending worldwide, was announced in February by The International Investor (TII).When customers insert their card into a point of sale terminal, both the financial and loyalty transactions are completed. The selektpoints programme will be launching in mid-2007 and is expected to operate in at least 15 countries by the end of the year. It is the world’s first global interoperable loyalty programme and will be headquartered in Dubai.
