Cancellation of debts of local farmers

President H.H Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, in his capacity as Ruler of Abu Dhabi, has ordered the cancellation of debts that local farmers owe to the government of Abu Dhabi.To effect the presidential order, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council issued directives here today to the relevant authorities to cancel Dhs.61 million which was spent on irrigation works , fertilizers and other works. The move underscores the keenness of Sheikh Khalifa to ease financial burdens on local farmers and thereby encourage more production.The Department of Agriculture and Municipalities has implemented the order instantly.
