Addition of third lane to Dubai-Fujairah highway
President H.H. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan has instructed that a third lane be added to the Dubai- Al Fujairah highway. The move springs out of the President's vision for development of all public utilities and making a qualitative leap that contributes to promotion of internal tourism sector.The highway will also stimulate economic and tourist growth between the east and west coast.Minister of Public Works Sheikh Hamdan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan said the new expansion would cost Dh 250 million out of the total Dh 1.25 billion project.''The highway will give a qualitative boost to economic and tourist growth as it will open up new opportunities for the commercial, residential, industrial and tourism complexes in the areas through which it will pass.''he added The highway will link emirates of the country, thus saving time and energy of all road users.The 45 kilometer strategic highway will start from Sharjah-Kalba highway stretching through the Hajer Mountains and Asfani up to Fujairah city.The highway is modeled to the highest international standards.With speed limit of 120 kmph, the road will significantly cut the trip time between the east and west coast.
