Sheikh Zayed legacy made the UAE an oasis of stability and prosperity: paper

President H.H. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan rejects any potential use of UAE territory for any attack on Iran, noted a UAE daily. The Dubai based 'Gulf News' wrote in its editorial today that Sheikh khalifa said: "The UAE is an independent and sovereign state that rejects the use of its territories to attack any country, especially if it is a neighbour and Muslim"."Sheikh Khalifa affirms UAE policies, internal and external, are dictated by national principles and interests and not by any foreign power. And following in the steps of the founding father, Sheikh Khalifa was correct in urging Iran and the USA to avoid regional tension", mentioned the paper."When the UAE decided to embark on a reform plan to allow direct elections of half of the Federal National Council, it was because it was the right time for the nation to translate its amazing economic growth into a political process that would give citizens more say in the running of their country", the paper added. The English language paper said that similarly, the issue of expatriate workers is top of the national agenda because of the huge influx of foreign workers over the past few years due to the rapid development. The need to regulate the market and protect the rights of the workers was the main reason behind a recent move to amend the labour law. It was certainly not because of pressure from outside parties. There are still some grey areas, but they are being addressed. The paper went on saying that the message of Sheikh Khalifa was clear. We do things based on our principles, and justice for all is at the top of the list.
