Dubai of Tomorrow (Reassurance)

To the world at large, Dubai is a great economic phenomenon of our times. Such a small land mass, with limited natural resources at its command, has worked wonders over the past decade. This is the reason why, when His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, unveiled his strategic plan for the emirate for 2015, it turned out that every word of it was important.
When Shaikh Mohammed unveiled in year 2000 the future plan for Dubai for 2010, the targets looked too ambitious. Yet, such was the seriousness with which he, as also the administration, has pursued it that these targets were achieved midway through the target period. That’s what gives the confidence with regard to the success of the new strategic plan for 2015. That Dubai will succeed, and exceed the targets yet again, is without doubt.
The idea now is to “elevate Dubai as a pioneering global city bursting with vibrancy and creativity ... attracting the best minds and the most successful businesses”. It’s conceived to be a global city which functions on the basis of standards accepted by the world community. It will also be one that “develops and helps shape our national and cultural identity and character”.
