Global Village opens door to a fantasy world
Global Village opened its doors today (December 13) in Dubai for its 12th edition with a unique line up of new and attractive events, aiming to offer visitors an unforgettable experience.
The 80-day extravaganza, which runs till March 1, will feature a spectacular one-hour Aquatic Fantasy Show along the new 700 m canal every day for the first 45 days.
In addition, top quality facilities and spectacular entertainment shows, highlighting the customs and cultures of different countries from around the world, will add to the attractions at Global Village.

Hosting a wide variety of world class events this year, the Global Village is a must-visit international destination for families from different nationalities, the new innovative features and thrilling entertainment events will further enhance its position and draw an increased footfall of international visitors, said a spokesman.
The Big Drum, an interactive workshop show that will witness an audience of 100 people playing live music with professional musicians on the largest drum in the world, will be one of the new features at Global Village this year.
The exciting calendar of events will also include the Vertical Show, the Jumper Show and the Percussion Parade. Offerings at Global Village already include branded retail outlets, restaurants, cafes and kiosks, an amphitheatre, fireworks, , as well as live shows.
To enhance the success of the past editions and the enormous visitor turnout, the Global Village has taken all the necessary measures to ensure a smooth traffic flow, including a new parking area that will cater to over 16,500 vehicles, he said.
Global Village’s recent auction of VIP passes, offering exclusive access to a dedicated parking area, fun fair tokens and complimentary entry tickets, received an overwhelming response from residents.
Over the years, the Global Village, which occupies a massive 17.4 million sq ft at Dubailand, has grown into a star attraction for UAE nationals, resident expatriates from over 160 different countries and visitors from across the world. It attracted over four million visitors last year.
As a world-class tourism destination, the Global Village brings together diverse customs and cultures covering a broad spectrum of activities including music, dances, arts and handicrafts, theatre, costumes and cuisine of different countries, said the spokesman.
