Dubai International Film Festival (DIFF) closes
The Dubai International Film Festival (DIFF) has closed the curtain on another successful year with significant increases in box office figures over last year.
DIFF hosted over 45,000 audience members in 2007, an increase of 35 per cent over 2006, and a 20 per cent increase in public attendance, according to the event’s organizers.
The films and events enjoyed high traffic, with 77 of the films sold out and on stand-by. The first evening of the inaugural Rhythm and Reels screening series was sold out, with 5,000 fans flocking to the Dubai Media City amphitheatre for the World Premiere of the documentary 90 Millas and a performance by Latin Superstar Gloria Estefan. The other evenings of the Rhythm and Reels series were well attended, including the late addition of popular comedy group Axis of Evil.
