Nakheel, a Dubai World company and one of the world's largest and most innovative real estate developers, today signed a Dhs1bn infrastructure contract with Khansaheb Civil Engineering LLC to develop the first phase of family-oriented residential community, Al Furjan.

When complete, Phase One of Al Furjan will accommodate over 2000 villas and terrace homes, offering a range of commercial and residential apartments and mixed use plots with supportive retail centres. The development is designed for the family with open spaces integrated into the master plan to provide areas for children to play and families to interact.

Mr. Mohammed Rashed Bin Dhabeah, Director, Al Furjan, said: 'The award of this Dhs1bn infrastructure contract is a significant milestone in Al Furjan's development. Khansaheb Civil Engineering LLC is a company renowned in Dubai for their quality of work and timely delivery and we are thrilled to be working with them.

'Ultimately it is our customers that will measure our performance and therefore our success so it is vital that we continue to be aligned with similar like minded companies to address these expectations and realise Nakheel's position in Dubai.'

Mr. Hussain Abdul Rahman Khansaheb, Chairman of Khansaheb said: 'Al Furjan is an important project for our company and it brings together two Dubai companies that share a vision for this city. We are excited to be involved in the creation of this new integrated residential community.'

These neighbourhood centres and other amenities, such as schools, are situated within easy walking distance of homes. Boasting more than 4,000 elegant homes complemented by an abundance of open spaces and a multitude of amenities, Al Furjan is a new model for community living.
