Eid Al-Adha is the Muslim feast of sacrifice marking the end of annual Haj pilgrimage.

Although the first official day of the Eid Al Adha begins on Wednesday, December 19, employees have been given the preceding day off as well to celebrate Arafat Waqfa Day, the day that pilgrims journey to the Arafat Mountain area to worship before making their way down at sunset.

News of the holiday comes a day after Saudi Arabia officially announced that Eid Al-Adha will begin on December 19.

According to the statement released by Saudi Arabia's Supreme Judicial Council, Monday was the first day of the month of Dhul Hijja, meaning Arafat Waqfa Day will fall on December 18 and Eid Al Adha on December 19.
