Dubai International Film Festival opens tomorrow

The fourth annual Dubai International Film Festival (DIFF) opens tomorrow with a burst of excitement and glamour.
Proceedings will take place in the presence of His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed al Maktoum, President of the Department of Civil Aviation and Chairman of Emirates Group, and several of the world's top film stars.

The red carpet at the Madinat Arena will see George Clooney on his way to the opening night film, Michael Clayton, in which he plays the title character. Sharon Stone will up the Hollywood glamour quotient, along with actress Michelle Yeoh and Latin superstar Gloria Estefan. Designer Kenneth Cole will no doubt cut a well-dressed figure, alongside world-renowned novelist Paolo Coelho and Bee Movie director Steve Hickner, actor Tony Shalhoub, and American filmmaker and Muhr Awards juror Michael Cimino.
Arab stars representing the Middle East at the event include the ever-gorgeous Leila Alaoui and Carmen Lebbos, and rising star Ghada Adel. Mahmoud Yassin, Shahirah, Bousi Chalabi, and Hesham Salim will represent Egypt.
Representing the GCC will be stars Abdul Hussain Abdulredha, Saad Faraj, Ghanem Al Saleh, Ibrahim Assallal, Ghanim Al Salaifi, Shaima Sabt, Naser Al Qasabi, and Abdullah Assadhan. UAE acting talent will also be prominent at DIFF: Samirah Ahmad, Jabir Namous, Huda Al Khatib and Hasan Rajab.
Egyptian cinema great Mohammed Khan will stride the carpet, as well as Khadija al Salami, Miral al Tahawi, and Bassam al Thawadi. Distinguished actors Nadim Sawalha, Rafik Ali Ahmed, and Farouk al Fishaoui will make an appearance, as will Lebanese master filmmaker Borhane AlaouiƩ and Moroccan actors Hicham Bahloul and Hafiza Herzi.
From India, the great Kabir Bedi will represent Taj Mahal, accompanied by Manisha Koirala and Ramya Krishna.
For eight days, Dubai cinephiles will have the best of the world's cinema at their fingertips, from short films to documentaries to features from every corner of the earth. International hits in the running for the Academy Awards will run side by side with debut features and a record number of World Premieres.
The festival will also feature a number of panels with industry figures, offering a behind-the-scenes view of the film trade. The first will be 'In Conversation with George Clooney,' to take place tomorrow night at the Souk Madinat Jumeirah Theatre. Clooney will offer insight into his life and career, and will answer questions from the public.
