• The Dubai International Film Festival won the “Best Festival” award on this year annual ‘What’s on’ awards by the US based magazine ‘What’s on’ held earlier this week.

• Dubai will host the inaugural Emirates Airline International Festival of Literature (EAIFL), where some of the world’s literary talents will be participating. The event will take place from February 25 to March 1 next year.

• The concluding Ceremony for the 10th session of Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed Award for Children’s Creativity will be held on Wednesday 23/4/2008 at the Women’s Association – Dubai.

• The first Documentary Films Initiative in the UAE was announced yesterday. The Documentary Films initiative will be held from 4 – 7 July 2008 at the Dubai Community Theater and Art Center at Emirates Mall.

• The Dubai public libraries have updated their website to include access to a series of databases on various subjects.

• The Architecture Heritage Society in Dubai will be organizing the events of the International Heritage Day and International Museum Day both on 18/4/2008 at the Ajman University. For more information contact the following number 04353976.

• The Gulf Film Festival (GFF), a non-profit cultural event, kicks off in Dubai on April 13 and runs until April 18, 2008. The Gulf Film Festival is divided into two segments - a competition specifically for films from the Gulf region, and a script competition for short UAE films. GFF will also feature international cinema from all over the world.

• Children’s City in Dubai has set a weekly programme for students to visit the “Sue” Dinosaur exhibition which is created by the Field Museum of Chicago, USA, and runs until May 23, 2008.

• Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research , an exhibition of Roaming Nobel Museum entitled “Alfred Nobel: Networks of Innovation” opened at Dubai Men’s College on March 30, 2008. The exhibition runs for two months.

• Dubai Press Club organizes the Arab Media Forum 2008, on the 23rd and 24th of April 2008 at Monarch Hotel Dubai, under the theme “Technology and Integration of Arab Media”

• Shakespeare 4 Kidz Hamlet will be playing twice daily at the Centerpoint Theatre, Dubai Community Theatre and Arts Centre, from Monday 21st to Thursday 24th April, 2008.
