Masoud opens Fine Art Fair
Abdullah Al Masoud, Speaker of the National Consultative Council (NCC) inaugurated on Wednesday night the first Abu Dhabi International Fine Art and Antiques Fair at the Abu Dhabi International Exhibition Centre.
Leading art and antique galleries from across the world will be exhibiting at the show which will last until 24th November 2007. Fine art and antiques valued at more than $100million will be on sale at this inaugural event that is expected to attract connoisseurs and collectors from all over the world.
Over 20,000 individual exhibits will be on display, ranging from contemporary and traditional art through to 19th and 20th century antiques.
The fair is a unique opportunity to view and enjoy an exquisite collection of art and antiques in Abu Dhabi for the first time.
One of the many highlights of the Fair is a spectacular sword that belonged to Salahuddin Ayyubi (1138-1193), founder of State of Ayyubia in Egypt and the Levant.
Galleries from Paris, Rome, Vienna, Abu Dhabi, Tokyo, Cairo, Bangkok, Brussels and Florence will be among those taking part and visitors can expect to view and purchase a wide range of the world?s finest art and antiques, from 17th, 18th, 19th and 20th century furniture, clocks, jewellery, sculpture, ceramics, glass, bronzes, photography and tapestries to Old Masters, contemporary art and ancient Islamic art.
