“…Today is a day of celebration, a day of thanksgiving, a day of peace, a day of freedom, a day of joy and happiness. Today should also be a day of truth and fearlessness, a day of unity and sister/brotherhood? Well, it should! A concept of “unity” that is built on sincerity, respect, love and mutual understanding; a unity that is built on commitment. It is this unity that could bring about a just social change within society. Yet not only the basic respect for human rights as well as any form of inter-religious / inter-cultural dialogue still seems to be a major challenge of our time.
“O mankind! We created you from a single soul, male and female, and made you into nations and tribes, so that you may come to know one another. Truly, the most honored of you in Gods sight is the greatest of you in piety. God is All-Knowing, All-Aware. [49:13]”
