Local company wins Meydan contract

UAE-based Arabtec and Malaysian construction company WCT Engineering have won a USD 1.3bn contract to build the Meydan horseracing complex in Dubai. The racecourse will feature a kilometer-long grandstand that will hold up to 60,000 people, a luxury hotel, over 10 restaurants, and a museum.
The concept and idea of this landmark project was first presented earlier in March, by H.H Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai.
Construction is expected to be completed in time for the 2010 Dubai World Cup, the world's richest horse race. Source
