Dhs415 million, new Al Garhoud Bridge will open in March 2008

In a drive to expand and replace the old Al Garhoud bridge, the Road and Transport Authority (RTA) has completed construction of 76 per cent of Dhs415 million new Al Garhoud bridge project The work began in Feb. 2006 at cost Dhs415 million. The project includes two bridges, each with seven lanes, length of 520 metres and 16 metres high to allow free marine traffic and 16, 000 vehicles in one hour over the Dubai creek.

Engineer Metha bin Udai, Executive Director of the RTA said the "new bridge will be opened by March 2008. It comes in a string of vital projects being executed to enhance traffic in emirate of Dubai. Source
