24 students chosen for Edaad scholarship

Edaad developmental scholarship programme of the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) has identified 22 students for the master’s programme and two students for the bachelor’s programme for the year 2007.
Predominantly a master’s scholarship programme, it provides scholarships to distinguished and high achieving UAE nationals to study abroad in the best renowned institutions in the world.
About 16 per cent of a total of 150 applicants have been chosen for scholarship.

Adel Rashid Al Shared, director of Edaad, said, “We have been very selective about the candidates this year. Besides academic excellence and merit we have chosen candidates who have exhibited leadership potential through psychometric testing. Additionally, we have invested in students who have chosen disciplines that align with Dubai Strategic Plan 2015. Scholarships are also granted to those who are committed to return to Dubai to play a leading role in its growth and development.”
Since its inception in 2001, Edaad has offered 250 scholarships to UAE nationals. Up to now, 133 Edaad scholars have successfully completed their degrees and are integrated into the local labour market. This year, another 34 students will graduate and return to the country. Forty per cent of Edaad scholars are women. Sourse
