Wadi flood warning

The UAE Meteorological Department has warned residents to stay away from the wadis during the weekends because of the strong surface winds and thunderstorms.
Stormy weather is expected to hit the UAE on Wednesday - with heavy rain and high winds expected to reach Dubai in the evening.“We expect flash floods, particularly in Fujairah and parts of the northern emirates, due to the heavy rain on the mountains in Oman and the UAE,” said a senior meteorologist. He added that flash water can come into Wadis from the mountains located in Oman. The Met office said winds that be as high as 75kmph could hit parts of the emirates.
These winds have been generating high waves in the sea, making it a dangerous for most vessels.Fujairah has already been lashed by rain for the past 24 hours, causing flooding to major roads and high waves. Source

Unbelievable: read what I found:
A Kalba court judge decided not to heed warnings and crossed the battered road anyway.

Betting his life on his Land Cruiser, the judge zoomed down the wet road. "We couldn’t stop him he said. He was late for court and just went," said officer Khalifa Sulaiman.

Just when everyone thought he would make it, a 20-footer blasted over the barrier, engulfing his 4x4. As the plume of water faded, the Land Cruiser spun out of control to land backwards in a water-filled ditch.

Two Pakistani municipal workers who had braved the waves all day got on their payloader and drove it down to the worst part of the road where the judge was stuck. Positioning the payloader between the waves and the Land Cruiser the two men got down and helped the judge onto the Caterpillar. Then, risking their lives even further, one of them got into the Toyota and the other attached a rope.

Hotels cancelled reservations, and some evacuated guests

As of 8pm yesterday, the only access to Fujairah is through the Masafi highway after the Dibba to Khor Fakkan coastal road was closed off. All roads leading to Kalba have been closed off as well, including the new Kalba highway, as virtually the entire town has been flooded.

The Kalba corniche, which survived Tuesday unscathed, was a scene of utter devastation yesterday.
