Human rights defenders
Two prominent human rights activists, who had been barred from giving interviews or writing articles for the local media for several years, were subjected to harassment.
Mohamed ‘Abdullah al-Roken, a lawyer and former President of the UAE’s Jurists’ Association, was detained twice, in July and August, by State Security (Amn al-Dawla) officials. During his three-day detention in August, his interrogators reportedly threatened to close down his office and drugged his food. He was prevented from using the bathroom. Mohamed ‘Abdullah al-Roken was released without charge but his passport was confiscated.
In June an arrest warrant was issued against human rights activist Mohamed al-Mansoori, a lawyer and President of the Jurists’ Association, after he was accused of “insulting the Public Prosecutor”. He had given several interviews to international news media in which he criticized the human rights situation in UAE. Mohamed al-Mansoori was abroad and was not arrested.
In August, attempts were made to bring criminal charges against Sharla Musabih, founder of the City of Hope Women’s shelter in Dubai. She and others alleged the charges were politically motivated and intended to force the closure of the shelter, which provides support for women and children survivors of violence.

It is amazing how things are in Dubai. Every thing is so fast (except the traffic jams of course) : fast cars fast built projects all in a marathon for the best, biggest, largest, tallest, longest… ect.
All in All Dubai always had ridden the waves of success and took as always advantage of all situations such as wars, peace, catastrophes ect… Dubai always and because of Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid far sightedness and his ambitions to lead Dubai to the International standard and eradicate the western picture about the Arabs and their image that took very long for western media to brain wash their people and the world in convincing them that “Those dirty uncivilized camel farmers “or to take two “greedy conniving blood thirsty Arabs” or take three “ Women abusers and polygamies Arabs that let their women live in tents and eat desert grass “ Or take four “ Terrorists with beard or moustaches that are brutal feeling less killers “ and Hollywood stories went on. Dubai have successfully abolished those images in deeds and hard work unlike Arabs else where.
Until 9/11 took place, there the whole wide world was shocked, and all those poor western pre-programmed brains were ordered by continues and consistence media brain washing to believe their eyes that Muslims (Of course Arabs are the symbol of Islam) and Arabs are the new evil of the world… and that all what Hollywood sold them of Arabs and Muslims images were all right. Oklahoma bombings incident for example and in a matter of seconds after it happened long before 9/11 happened CNN showed a drown image of a Middle Eastern face on their screens, no one in the American news networks had apologized for that scandal, it just went by with out being noticed. (Long story are you bored of reading?)

After the collapse of the Soviet Union 1989. America needed new enemy badly to justify its defence budget (those days 596 Billions of Dollars) after all two feeling controls us humans: Love and Fear.
So laymen in the west must feel threatened the poor tax payers must have convincing reasons enough and beyond any shadow of a doubt in justification for their increased monthly tax bills.
Here come the Bin Laden Family, well associated with Bush’s family in fact they are until recently business partners in constructions and other mutual interests. Arabs and Muslims unfortunately, have the least literacy rates among all nations. Controlled by their emotions driven by their hunger for a new Sallah Uldin bought the story and saw in a young sick Saudi man their savvier And the rest of the story is well known and carries on.
Where was I? Oh yes Women Shelter in Dubai.. lead by a woman called Sharla Musabih or her American name goes like Sharla George Okley some thing like that any way.
She was backed by CIA, and others to create a commotion in the United Arab Emirates and to emphasis the image of The new world order ( as announce by George the father at the U.N assembly back on the 11th of September 1991).
Sharla ( like George Bush the son ) did not finish her high school back in Montana and was very famous pimp for the V.VIP since 1994. even supplying classy girls to 5 stars Hotels in Dubai. So far so good.. one must earn money by hook or by crook.. !!!!!
6 children later and a lot of supply and consistent business brought Sharla new gang this time called western and particularly American interests.
A day in the life of Sharla
Many women came to her after secretly opening a Villa (Villa 18 Umm al Shaif road Jumeirah 3) back in 2001 the known clichés like women freedom women rights was almost nonexistent in Dubai, and people were used to solve their family problems where they should be solved whether through an elderly family members or otherwise through Dubai courts as the final destination.
The more American influence in the region the more polished the image of Sharla gets, of course all behind the sciences.
The first appearance for Sharla in the international and national press was the story of ( the poor Bangladeshi young Camel riders ) a noble cause you would say.. and indeed it was to be able to pressurize the whole U.A.E government to let go of those light weighted bones just for the Sheikhs to have fun. What is hidden, however, was to bring Sharla to the light in given her an unprecedented appearance exhibiting the very humanitarian face that U.S.A always manage to do with the oldest trick in the marketing book.
Sharla became famous not in the U.A.E only but world wide and to shut her up the government granted her the U.A.E nationality.
Of course then sky is the limit. One problem surfaced next what she must do? The new subject or tick was and still is Villa 18 or City of Hope for poor abused women.
My question is what next Sharla they have closed your Villa 18 (almost) you opened Villa 67 so what is next? What does the U.S wants to do with you baby? What is really confusing for every one here who gave this woman the name Human rights activist? If human right watch is clean as they claim they are why they have to protect such a insect like Sharla? Human right watch wrote a letter to Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed the president of U.A.E to legalise Sharla shelter!!!! As if there are no problems in Iraq or the whole Middle East other than this infamous shelter.
What is Human right watch interests in Dubai’s so called “Women shelter”?
Look at the wordings for instance used in the complain: 3 lines on two U.A.E known local characters one of which is a Professor in law in U.A.E university Dr. Al Ruken but the rest of Human right watch letter was on Sharla’s Shelter???

As part of its responsibility to promote awareness of the issue and educate the public, the committee discussed a plan for implementing a series of workshops and other ways of disseminating information to specialists working in the field of law enforcement, health and social services as well as education. The committee has discussed in detail a proposed training programme for police officers and public prosecutors in cooperation with Ministry of Interior on identification of human trafficking violations and treatment of victims.
Members of the committee praised the recent decision by His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to establish a foundation for the protection of women and children in the emirate. Dr Gargash said the launch of the new shelter in Dubai is a very important initiative to provide protection and a support system for victims, which is an important component in the comprehensive fight to eliminate these crimes.
