WAM launches live web video news service

Emirates News Agency (WAM) has achieved today its newly commissioned daily TV broadcast service to provide round-the-clock continuous feed of news to broadcasters and other media outlets around the world.A significant technical upgrade, WAM's new web video service is aimed to put readers and viewers at the scene as well as enhance the visibility of the UAE both regionally and internationally by delivering video content, in almost real-time to millions of end users' computers via the Internet.Visitors to the UAE National Media Council's official website www.uaeinteract.com will be given the opportunity to read and view live televised news stories, reports and features about the UAE. The web-based TV broadcast will also enable many of the world's news agencies and media corporations to air more televised news stories about the UAE. One such client is Inter Press Service (IPS) news agency which relays WAM news via its website in English, Spanish, French, Portuguese and Swahili to over 1,000 newspapers and 2,000 broadcast stations and TV channels worldwide Free web-based text news service is already being provided in English and Arabic by WAM via its website www.wam.ae WAM was the first Arab news agency to transmit televised news to UAE-based TV satellite channels using fiber optics technology and FTP (File Transfer Protocol) applications.
