UAE Cabinet sets up National Anti-Drug Committee, Judicial Coordination Council.
The UAE cabinet held a Sunday a meeting at the Presidential Palace in Abu Dhabi.The meeting was presided over by H.H Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai and was attended by Sheikh Sultan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister.At today's meeting, the cabinet took a decision to set up the Judicial Coordination Council which will be chaired by UAE Federal Minister of Justice Nakhira Al-Dhaheri. Other members of the new council include Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Judicial Council, Director of Dubai Courts, Head of Ras Al Khaima Courts, Head of the UAE Federal Supreme Court, Federal Prosecutor General, Abu Dhabi Prosecutor General, Director of the Federal Judicial Institute for Training and Studies, and Director of the Higher Institute of Legal Science.The new council shall coordinate and cooperate with all federal and local judicial departments and authorities to benefit from exchange of expertise to develop federal and local judicial systems.The cabinet also took a decision to set up a National Anti-Drug Committee. The new committee shall be chaired by UAE Federal Minister of State for FNC Affairs. Other members include representatives of the federal ministries of interior, foreign affairs, labor, health, social affairs as well as from the state security authority and the UAE Red Crescent Society (RCS).The cabinet approved joining the memorandum of understanding on sea transport cooperation in the Arab East. It also approved the UAE's hosting the headquarters of the Arab Association of Securities Authorities.Also approved by the cabinet today were a number of agreements between the UAE and Belarus. It also reviewed a memorandum of understanding between the UAE and Belarus and a judicial assistance and extradition agreement with France. It also reviewed a federal bill for amending the federal Administrative Development Institute.Comments from economic departments and chambers of commerce and industry on the federal law for companies were also reviewed at today's meeting.The cabinet approved giving the National Media Council (NMC) the authorities to issue licenses for re-printing foreign newspapers and other publications in the UAE. It also approved the closing accounts of the Emirates Real Estate Corporation (EREC). Source WAM
