Judges call for joint strategic plan for local and federal courts
Senior judges in the UAE have recommended the authorities to formulate a joint strategic plan for local and federal courts in dispensing advanced justice to the people.
The judges, from all seven emirates attending a forum in Dubai, also suggested that all the local and federal courts should be electronically linked to quicken the litigation process.
More than 50 judges who chair local and federal courts attended in the first Judicial Forum of Court Heads in the UAE, held at Grand Hyatt hotel here yesterday.
The judges said information technology, electronic advancements and strategic planning will "support, develop and quicken the litigation processes".

They also suggested the formation of a consultative judicial council to tackle the challenges faced by the courts and lay down the best solutions and practices to reach "swift and efficient justice".
"For the UAE to enjoy a highly developed justice system, we [the judicial cadre] are requested to unify our strategies in judicial work among local and federal courts. We should endorse integrated strategies especially in terms of human resources, particularly judges and assistant judges," said Dr Ahmad Bin Hazim Al Suwaidi, General Director of Dubai Courts Department (DCD).
Future challenges
Dubai Judicial Council and DCD co-organised the Forum which was held under the patronage and attendance of Justice Minister Mohammad Bin Nakhira Al Daheri.
"The forum's recommendations will be dealt with seriously and put into effect soon. Our justice system, like other worldwide systems, faces certain challenges and this forum was organised to discuss and deal with those challenges," the minister said.
"Examining the future challenges through such forums paves our way in finding the best solutions and strategies and apply the best practices and expertise as well in our justice system."
Al Daheri said the UAE's judicial system was well-developed and self-governing. "Our Constitution protects the judicial system's independence, the thing which has been highly praised by other judicial systems in the region and worldwide," he said.
"The attendees tackled four major issues such as administering the communication between federal, local and international courts, legal notifications, rulings' execution and cooperation in strategic and technical planning between UAE courts," Judge Mohammad Yousuf, DCD's Deputy Director, said.
