The Dubai International Boat Show

More than 25,000 visitors are expected to set a course for the 15th instalment of the Dubai International Boat Show (DIBS) when it opens its doors later on today (Tuesday 13 March). Organised by Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC), DIBS opens today at 3pm at Dubai International Marine Club (DIMC) at Mina Seyahi in Dubai, and runs until March 17. Organisers claim that the event will feature the largest display of boats, marine supplies and services in the Middle East.
"Every year the Boat Show increases in size and attractions on offer, and 2007 will be no exception, with more than 720 exhibitors taking part and 140 boats on the water," said Helal Saeed Al Marri, director general, DWTC."Add to that the lure of warm Arabian weather and hospitality, the 2007 DIBS will be the most impressive event to date and we look forward to welcoming thousands of visitors."Big name exhibitors from the leisure marine world include Azimut-Benetti, Sunseeker and Fairline, while local yacht manufacturers Gulf Craft and AS Marine, as well as local dealers ART Marine and Duboats will be exhibiting.Organizers are also arranging a selection of family-friendly attractions. There will be a wide range of personal watercraft including wakeboards, windsurfers and dinghies on display, and visitors will have the chance to win prizes including a Yamaha WaveRunner and Laser dinghy.DIMC will also host the first ever inaugural Dive Middle East Exhibition (DMEX). Leading names from the world of dive equipment, supplies and services are expected to be drawn to the event from throughout the region.
DIBS is open daily from 3pm to 9.30pm. The show is free for trade visitors and public tickets cost AED 35 (US $9.5). Access to the on-water marina area may be restricted at times and children under the age of 12 must be accompanied at all times. Source
