Labour Minister Dr Ali bin Abdullah Al Kaabi has issued a ministerial resolution pertaining to regulations of temporary work in the country's private sector facilities.The resolution's first article defines 'temporary work' as the job that requires a period of six month or less to complete.According to the resolution, permission for temporary work will be issued twice for every contractual period with the employer.The contractual period should be at least for three years for all occupations.The resolution stipulates that the worker to be hired for a temporary job must be holding a valid residence visa and that the permission will be issued only after obtaining the employer's written approval. It provides for granting the worker a temporary work permission without approval of the original employer if the former has a pending labour dispute referred to the court by the Ministry.Meanwhile, the ministry has re-constituted labour committees in the different emirates.
