Dubai Industrial City has announced the completion of its first Labour City in the Base Metal zone, with a capacity to accomodate 12,500 supervisors and groups of workers across Dubai Industrial City and Dubai.The Labour City, which comprises of 14 buildings, is the first of seven that are planned for construction at Dubai Industrial City at a cost of AED 1.6 billion. The remaining six cities will be launched this year and in the first quarter of 2008.The unique and advanced mixed-use development provides workers with easy accessibilty to production centres, while enhancing their living experience within the region’s leading comprehensive industrial township.
The housing at Labour City will feature advanced facilities including a dedicated kitchen, cafeteria, laundry room, air conditioned bedrooms, and play grounds for football, basketball and cricket. Resturants, groceries, banks, medical centres, cinemas and other retail services will also be operational to meet the various daily requirements of the Labour City residents.

The self-contained labour cities, when completed, will spread across a total land area of 14 million sq.ft., and have 87,500 beds. The design and planning of all the cities conform to the latest Dubai Municipality guidelines, under the supervision of Maqayees, the Dubai Centre for Industrial Standards. Situated on the Emirates Road and close to major highways such as Sheikh Zayed Road and the Dubai Ring Road, the Dubai Industrial City covers 560 million square feet. It is a dedicated industrial destination comprising six industrial clusters for food and beverage, base metal, mineral products, chemicals, transport equipment and parts, and machinery and mechanical equipment.Dubai Industrial City features additional facilities for logistics, warehousing, labour residences, as well as commercial, residential and entertainment zones, positioning the City as a comprehensive one stop-shop destination while providing tenants with a critical competitive advantage in the areas of human resources, logistics and business operations.
