Demand for armoured vehicles on the rise in the Middle East

The demand for armoured vehicles is on the rise in the Middle East reflected by the situation in the region.
This was stated by Frank Mauersberger , Director of Sales for Centigon in the Middle East, while speaking to Khaleej Times at IDEX 2007. Centigon, the world's leading commercial armoured vehicle manufacturer, together with Armor Holdings Inc., its parent company, is having a strong presence at the show in the US Pavilion.
Centigon yesterday announced that it has been appointed by General Motors Middle East as the preferred supplier for armouring and conversions. From now on all requests from any of the GM dealers in the Middle East will be referred to Centigon based on a purchase order contract between Centigon and the particular distributor. GM Middle East has over 80 years of experience in this region.
In December 2006 Centigon completed the first year of the opening of its sales office in Dubai and reported a successful year of sales in the Middle East.
Mauersberger said that Centigon had a wide range of customers in the Middle East, mostly VIPs, governments and private sector companies. "There was an additional surge in sales as we headed towards the end of 2006, which shows, that the decision to open a sales office locally in order to liaise directly with our customers in this region, was the right one. Among our main markets for armoured SUVs in the Middle East I have to mention Kuwait and Saudi Arabia. The UAE is a quality conscious market and the most significant purchaser of armoured luxury vehicles in the region. In 2007, Centigon is planning to increase sales by 20 per cent based on an extended sales network and escalating demand." Mauersberger said. Source
