The Ministry of Labour (MoL) has started issuing ‘Work Mission Permit’ quotas to companies in the capital.
Khalil Khoury, Director of Work Permit Department at the MoL, told Khaleej Times yesterday that the ministry in Abu Dhabi recently started granting mission permits to the companies. However, the new quotas opened only this week.
The ministry allows firms from different sectors to apply for issuing three-month work mission permits that can be renewed for another three months.
Such permits were issued earlier only to oil and energy companies. Minister of Labour Dr Ali bin Abdullah Al Ka’abi recently announced the decision to issue such permits to all companies across the country.
The ‘Work-Mission Permit’ enables the firms to bring workers in case of temporary contracts and seasonal activities as well as put the workers under the probation period.
“The quota would be granted to the companies for a fixed number of workers depending on the bank guarantee. We have three categories of firms — A, B and C — and the companies will have to issue bank guarantees when they apply to bring workers,” Khoury said.
The quota for each company would be as per the bank guarantee provided. However, the maximum limit for ‘A’ category would be Dh 1.5 million, ‘B’ category Dh3 million and ‘C’ Dh5 million, said Khoury.
He added that once the companies from the three categories reached the maximum limit of the bank guarantees, they could apply for mission permits for an additional 100 per cent of their present number of workers.
“However, if the companies from any category have less than 100 workers, the firms can get mission permits for another 50 per cent of the total number of workers they already have,” added Khoury.
The companies can check their quotas online on the ministry’s web site — www.mol.gov.ae.
“We have provided the applicants this service to save time. They can fill in the applications for mission permits as per their quotas at the typing offices and then submit them at the counter along with the bank guarantees,” Khoury said. Source
