The Dubai Municipality’s Buildings Department has received the ISO 9001:2000 certificate following a detailed audit by the international agency that gives the requirements for quality management systems.
This was stated by Engineer Khalid Mohammed Saleh, Director of Buildings Department in the municipality, who noted that the department was proud to attain the globally implemented standard for providing assurance about the ability to satisfy quality requirements and to enhance customer satisfaction.
He said the department had prepared a quality manual prior to being audited for the certificate requirements.
“The ISO certification is yet another great achievement of the Buildings Department, which has always been keen on providing building infrastructure services for the construction sector,” Saleh noted.
He said the certification process included intense deliberations by experts, who evaluated the quality systems followed by the department and verified the management systems.
The requirements covered a wide range of topics, including the department’s top management commitment to quality, its customer focus, adequacy of its resources, employee competence, process management, quality planning, services design, review of incoming orders, purchasing, monitoring and measurement of its processes and products, calibration of measuring equipment and processes to resolve customer complaints.
