The national partners (sponsors) of shops and small commercial outlets will be held responsible and face penalties if the shop owners hire illegal workers, according to Qaseem Jameel, Deputy Director of the Inspection Department in the Ministry of Labour (MoL).
The announcement has come after a national sponsor, M.A., met Inspection Department officials to inform them that the workers of a grocery shop under his sponsorship had absconded.
"I was shocked when I came to know that I will have to face penalties if the foreign employer I sponsored hired illegal workers at the grocery. It was not my fault and I didn’t recruit them,” he said.
Jameel clarified that the national partner will be held responsible and face legal action and penalties if illegal workers are found working at the outlet. Source
