Dubai airport awarded for impressive year

Dubai International Airport was named Airport of the Year at the Aviation Business Awards (ABA) 2007.
The award recognises Dubai airport's impressive traffic figures during the past 12 months alongside paying merit to its ground handling facilities that have contributed to overall industry growth in the region.

"Any award is reason to celebrate, but to win an award as prestigious as the ABA, instituted as it is by the region's most recognised name in business publications, ITP, is certainly an honour," said Paul Griffiths, CEO of Dubai Airports.
"We are encouraged to continue improving the services and facilities at Dubai International, and glad the efforts of one and all at Dubai Airports are being recognised by the industry as well as the public at large," he added.
With the Middle East becoming centre stage for the aviation sector worldwide, Dubai airport faced stiff competition from the likes of Abu Dhabi International Airport, Doha International Airport and King Abdulaziz International Airport. However, the hub continued its dominating position in the region and collected the award in front of over 200 of the region's most influential aviation executives during a prestigious ceremony held in Dubai.
The ABA awards were a great platform to recognise industry players who are taking the regional aviation sector to new heights, not just in terms of growth but also through technological advancements and achieving international standards in service quality," said Griffiths. Source
