Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Inaugurates the INSEAD Centre for Executive Education and Research

General Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, inaugurated today the Centre for Executive Education and Research of INSEAD, the leading international business school with two fully connected campuses in Fontainebleau, France, and Singapore.
Sheikh Mohammed witnessed the signing of a cooperation agreement between the Centre and Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank (ADCB), which will facilitate the creation of a chair of international business to finance research in diverse fields of business.

Sheikh Mohammed said the opening of the new educational centre fit well with the vision of President H.H. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan to develop a best-in-class education system . ''It is a manifestation of our keenness to extend bridges of communication and cooperation with the international academic community with the intent of gaining and exchanging expertise, attracting high-calibre professionals and providers of university education and benefiting from latest developments in scientific research and technology.
"Our aspiration to enhance Abu Dhabi's standing as a major global centre for culture and education has been boosted with the addition of INSEAD's centre for executive education and research to the Emirate's fast expanding portfolio of world class educational and cultural institutions," added Sheikh Mohammed.
"The new centre will act as a catalyst in nurturing the UAE's abundant local and expatriate executive talent. Other professionals and corporations from the rest of the Middle East will also be attracted by INSEAD's world class executive education programmes and research facility at the heart of the region's fastest growing business and financial hub." INSEAD's first open enrolment programme for the region is 'Managing People in the Middle East', scheduled for April 2008. This programme will give participants an opportunity to gain practical insights in aligning people and corporate strategy in enterprises in the Middle East and North Africa.
The Centre's research will focus on Middle East issues and cover areas such as women and leadership, humanitarian logistics, human resources management, innovation, and information and communication technology.
In addition, the INSEAD Healthcare Management Initiative will develop a research programme to make a sustainable contribution to health and life sciences in Abu Dhabi and the region. The initiative will play a prominent role within the INSEAD Centre for Executive Education and Research in Abu Dhabi.
Research findings on the Arab Innovation Index, an index to measure the degree to which Arab nations respond to the challenges of innovation, will also be released in the next months. In addition, the school plans to develop an Arabic version of the INSEAD Knowledge portal which showcases faculty research.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Sheikh Sultan bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan, Chairman of Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority, Dr. Hanif Hassan, Minister of Education, Khaldoun Al Mubarak, Chairman of Abu Dhabi Executive Affairs Authority, Mubarak Al Shamsi, Director General of Abu Dhabi Education Council as well as by representatives of the UAE's business community, prominent members of the academia and senior government officials.

The event was also attended by a high level INSEAD delegation including: Claude Janssen, INSEAD Honorary Chairman, Cees van Lede, INSEAD Chairman, Frank Brown, Dean of INSEAD, Peter J?dersten, Executive Director of the INSEAD Centre for Executive Education and Research in Abu Dhabi, Soumitra Dutta, INSEAD Dean of External Relations and Melissa Joelson, INSEAD Director of Communications.
