The Zakat Fund and the Social Affairs Ministry today signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) aimed at boosting the existing partnership and programmme coordination between them to achieve the highest level of social solidarity in the country.Abdullah Aqeeda Al Muhairy, Zakat Fund Secretary General, signed the agreement for his outfit, while Abdullah Rashid Al Suwaidi, the ministry's Under Secretary, also signed for his side in a short signing ceremony held at the Zakat Fund premises here in Abu Dhabi.In a short statement, Al Muhairy said the Zakat Fund was striving hard to achieve its objectives, to spread its message and to implement the strategy it adopted, adding that the MoU it signed today was in accordance with the UAE government's wise strategy and his outfit's five-year development plan which seeks to establish strong relations of cooperation and coordination with local and international institutions related to local Zakat and social works.Based on the agreement, each of the two sides will provide the other with cases that deserve Zakat assistance, names of poor and needy UAE families in a confidential manner.The two sides will also share notes regarding applicants who applied for financial assistance and Zakat to avoid double payment of such assistance to one beneficiary by the two institutions, according to the agreement.The two sides will also work towards linking their two institutions electronically in the near future.
