UAE's hosting the current first Iraq Business and Investment Conference in Dubai is part of its continuous support to Iraq, said today UAE Minister of Governmental Sector Development Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansouri.
The UAE has already hosted such meetings and contributed to many initiatives aimed at boosting development in Iraq, the most recent of which being the second conference on the strategy for development of southern Iraqi provinces, he added.
Al Mansouri made his remarks in a speech at the said conference which was opened today by Iraqi vice-president of Iraq Dr Adel Abdul Mahdi.
"What Iraq needs now is a climate that is suitable for promoting investments. Security and stability are among the key factors to encourage investment in Iraq", Al Mansouri said.
The conference attracted over 300 UAE and international businessmen interested in exploring business and investment opportunities with more than 100 Iraqi businessmen from southern Iraq. Source
