RTA cracks down outlawed ads and boards

Roads & Transport Authority (RTA) launched a sweeping inspection campaign covering all unlicensed ads & boards displayed, contrary to the public order, at key areas & roads within the emirate of Dubai.Engineer Hussain Al Banna, Director of Right of Way Services Department, at Traffic and Roads Agency revealed that Inspection Section of the Right of Way Services Dep't made intensive efforts by launching inspection campaigns to ensure proper standing and display of ads and boards. "These ads are of two types, ad boards displayed at locations which might affect road users such as motorists and pedestrians, and ad boards installed at certain locations without securing necessary permits from the RTA," Al Banna explained. He added that RTA launched a five-day campaign during which precautionary measures have been taken. 30 ad boards have been removed and offences reported against the responsible companies, and 160 ad boards will also been removed with offences reported against the responsible companies. "Through this campaign RTA aims at sending a message to the public that all companies & business entities in the emirate of Dubai displaying their ad boards within the right of way have to abide by the conditions & rules set by the RTA governing placing & installing of ad boards within the right of way. Placing ads & signboards contrary to these procedures constitutes a hazardous situation to road users, let alone its negative impact on the aesthetic outlook of the place & the emirate," Al Banna stated. He concluded that the RTA is currently launching intensive & sustained campaigns within the right of way in order to deter offenders & ads owners by taking all necessary measures which might be extended to adding the name of the company to the Black List.
