The BlackBerry service has completed first year of operations with a sustained momentum in the market, according to an announcement made by Etisalat and Research in Motion (RIM) yesterday.
Etisalat BlackBerry service was launched in the UAE in May 2006. The company has crossed the 14,000 customer mark and is confident that this is just a start. Companies across different vertical industries have become BlackBerry users in the UAE with users drawn from the financial services industry, manufacturing, and transportation among many others.
Etisalat currently offers the BlackBerry® Enterprise Solution™ (BES) which allows mobile users in corporates to access communications and information wirelessly. BlackBerry Enterprise Service tightly integrates with Microsoft® Exchange, Novell GroupWise® and IBM Lotus® Domino® and works with existing enterprise systems to enable secure, push-based wireless access to email and other corporate data.Etisalat also offers the BlackBerry Internet Service (BIS) which has been designed to provide individuals or small businesses with all the mobility benefits of BlackBerry from web browsing, push email to Instant Messaging.
